As their name indicates, this bluegrass quintet is cast in the classic mold, with banjo, guitar, mandolin, and bass bolstering their distinctive harmony vocals. Sacred music is the theme here, with "I'll Not Be a Stranger," the Louvin Brothers' "You'll Be Rewarded Over There," Reno Smiley's "Family Altar," "A Gospel Light," "Life Beyond Death," "Take Up the Cross," "Praise God, I'm Ready to Go," "The Music of My Memories," "Elijah," "Give Me Your Hand," "My Loved Ones Are Waiting for Me," and more. "Heartfelt and unabashedly old-fashioned music…. There are a lot of flashier bands in bluegrass, but few that sound so utterly comfortable with traditional music—or music that suddenly sounds traditional. Part of the reason for that is the quintet's father-and-son team: fiddler Paul Mullins, who put in some time with the Stanley Brothers, plays with soulful economy; while his offspring, Joe Mullins, chimes in effectively on banjo and brings an expressive tenor voice to the mix. Rounded out by nimble guitarist and frequent lead singer Mark Rader, mandolinist Gerald Evans Jr. and bassist Mike Clevinger, the group displays considerable instrumental finesse too."—Washington Post
