|
|
After nine years away from the genre that made him an international star, Clint Eastwood returns to the saddle in this gritty Western that earned him a Palme d’Or nomination at Cannes in 1985. Wearing a clerical collar, Eastwood’s character (The Preacher) rides into a beleaguered mining camp terrorized by a corporate mining boss Coy LaHood (Richard Dysart). When the Preacher defends the independent miners and helps them to organize, LaHood hires a badge-wearing killer (John Russell) and a gang of duster-shrouded “deputies” to scare off the Preacher and force the miners to abandon their claims.
