Musical satirist Sherman was at his best before a crowd—he had one on hand even when making his million-selling comedy LPs in the studio. In this 1966 nightclub appearance at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, NV, Sherman kicks off with a "Nevada style" update of his biggest hit, "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh! (A Letter from Camp)" and introduces "A Song Written by Elizabeth Taylor" (using the melody of "The Second Time Around," he sings "Love Is lovelier/The seventh time around," remarking "It's just a short song. She doesn't have time to sit and write long songs"). Other send-ups include "Smog Gets in Your Eyes," "Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long," and "Second Hand Nose." "Sherman made Jewish humor about Jewish people mainstream humor…. On the jacket of My Son, the Folk Singer, Sherman declares: 'These songs are what would happen if Jewish people wrote all the songs—which in fact they do.' When Sherman and the other Jewish comics of the era began making their Jewishness a key element of their acts, they opened the way to the contemporary acceptance of multiculturalism."—Commonweal
