Folk revivalists in the mode of the Kingston Trio and the Limeliters, the Town Criers made this unreleased album of live music at a college concert just months before the U.S. arrival of the Beatles sparked the British Invasion. On string bass and tenor vocals was Marty Balin, who went on to greener psychedelic pastures as a member of Jefferson Airplane; the three other Criers were Larry Vargo (guitars and bass/baritone vocals), the Baez-like Jan Ellickson (soprano vocals and tambourine), and Bill Collins (banjo, guitar, and baritone/tenor vocals). Their eight numbers include "Daddy, Roll 'em," "900 Miles," "Hellbound Train," "Virgin Mary," "99 Years to Go," and "Jubilee."
