|
A tongue-in-cheek variation on The Dirty Dozen, this 1970 release stars Clint Eastwood as a GI who stumbles upon top secret information about a fortune in Nazi-confiscated bullion, then leads a team of misfits behind enemy lines to steal it. His crew of accomplices includes such future TV and film stars as Harry Dean Stanton, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Carroll O'Connor, Gavin MacLeod, and Donald Sutherland. Most memorable are Rickles' outspoken character, Crapgame, and Sutherland's Sergeant Oddball, a proto-hippie tank commander who goes into battle blaring Hank Williams and shooting paintballs.
