This chronological survey of the whimsical Scottish troubadour's many hits begins with his wistful early folk songs "Catch the Wind" and "Colours" and progresses through his psychedelic pop tunes of the late 1960s and beyond ("Hurdy-Gurdy Man," "Wear Your Love Like Heaven," "Sunshine Superman," "Mellow Yellow," "Epistle to Dippy," "There Is a Mountain," "To Susan on the West Coast Waiting," "Lalena," "Atlantis," and more). "Whereas Dylan saw the Sixties as almost apocalyptic, Donovan bought into the peace and love ideal wholesale. For one, a hard rain was a-gonna fall. For the other, lovely Jennifer Juniper was 'sitting very still'. Like Zelig, he was always there, appearing in Dylan's Don't Look Back documentary, leading anti-Vietnam war marches with Joan Baez and visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yoga with Beach Boy Mike Love, Mia Farrow and The Beatles…. Donovan's essential sweetness remains untrammelled by the years and Jennifer Juniper and Mellow Yellow are still delightful pop songs."—Evening Standard
