Hitmaker extraordinaire Carole King's demo arrangements were so skillful that producers often adopted them wholesale. These previously unreleased 1960–70s recordings sample both hits she crafted for other artists ("Take Good Care of My Baby" for Bobby Vee, "Crying in the Rain" for the Everly Brothers, "Just Once in My Life" for the Righteous Brothers, "Pleasant Valley Sunday" and "So Goes Love" for the Monkees) and the original demos of the iconic standards that led to her own triumphant solo career: "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "It's Too Late," "You've Got a Friend," "Way Over Yonder," "Beautiful," and "Tapestry." Of course Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman" is the stuff of legend, but King's version here packs a potent soulful wallop all its own.
