|
Late at night, a politician (Ercan Kesal) hits a pedestrian with his car and offers his driver (Yavuz Bingol) money to take the rap—probably a six-month sentence. But gradually the driver and his family discover that their lies lead to an even greater tragedy. Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan won Best Director honors at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival for this haunting film noir that bears all of the director's trademarks including brooding cityscapes, a natural soundtrack, and breathtaking cinematography. The title refers to the adage: see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil. In Turkish with English subtitles.
