Born in California in 1941, Lincoln Taber was equally at home in landscape, trompe l'oeil, and mural painting. He met Salvador Dalí in Spain, trained with atelier teacher Nerina Simi in Florence, and worked with Italian portraitist Pietro Annigoni before settling in England in 1967. This study examines his meticulously rendered work, placing it in the context of late 20th-century academic and trompe l'oeil painting, cataloguing nearly 500 works and illustrating 100 in color.
