|
Both Hume Cronyn and Vincent Gardenia won Emmys in 1990 for their performances in this smart, humorous look at how seniors try to maintain independence and dignity. John Cooper (Cronyn) and Michael Aylott (Gardenia) are longtime friends with dissimilar temperaments living in the same retirement home. John is crotchety and physically frail, but his brain is still sharp as a tack. Michael is easygoing and in excellent health, but is slowly losing his mental capacities. The men's uncommon bond is jeopardized when Michael's faculties show a dramatic decline, and John is advised to move back in with his daughter.
